What is Road Party?
Road Party is a collaborative zine of artists and creators in the automotive community. We are here to give smaller voices a platform to create and share their work without any boundaries. Our goal is to celebrate diversity and inclusiveness through photography, illustration, writing, and mixed media.

What's a zine?
A zine is a self-published, non-commercial print-work that is typically made up by a singular person or group of people.

Why a zine?
The reason why I decided a zine would be ideal for this project is because there's less expectations of it being perfect. I played with the idea of creating an actual magazine but realized that would be far too much work for one person to put together, and would require sponsors to help fund it. Road Party is a mashup of all different forms of art including, but not limited to, photos, stories, illustrations, poetry, and other forms of self expression that aren't typically found in mainstream automotive media, and I don't like the idea of the content being censored or with a large companies logo pasted to it. I'd like to keep this about the artists and self fund it as much as I can. Zines can also be produced at an affordable cost, which will make it easier to distribute to multiple people. The whole idea is to get Road Party in front of as many people as possible, and also get aspiring creatives work in front of editors and art directors.

I'm an artist and I'd like to be apart of the project, how do I get involved?
Each edition will have an overall theme which you can use as a prompt to help guide your work. The theme can be used as literally or as figuratively as you'd like, and is only given to keep the zine consistent.

What's the theme for the first edition?
The theme for Road Party 1 is 'summer evening' -- warmth, solace, a familiar place. Shoot, write, paint whatever you'd like using these terms. There's no expectation to check all the boxes, and your work can be as abstract as you'd like.

What are the guidelines for submitting?
The whole idea for this project is that that it's about expressing YOURSELF. There is no limit on how many words you write, how many photos you shoot, etc. Please send the highest resolution file you can via e-mail for photos and art!

Who's allowed to submit?
Everyone and anyone! It doesn't matter how much experience you have or how big your following count is.

When is the deadline?
Artists should have their pieces in by August 20th, 2020. If there's concern that your piece can't be finished by then and you might need extra time, please e-mail me directly just so I know!


I'm not an artist but how can I help support this project?
When I'm ready to start the designing and printing process, there will be prints/pins/stickers and other merchandise available that will go directly to funding all the costs of producing.

How do I get a copy of the zine?
If you've submitted a piece and it was used in the zine, you will get a few copies of it and any promotional items (stickers, pins, etc.) that were made to help fund the project! Copies will also be available to purchase for everyone else at an affordable price.
